PAC Biometric Smart Reader
The PAC Biometric Smart Reader is an industry standard Mifare® smart card reader that integrates fingerprint technology by comparing it against a smart card template, eliminating the need for a central database and communications infrastructure.
In an age where many users have concerns about centralized storage of personal data, holding the users fingerprint details on the card only alleviate these concerns.
|
Only PAC Biometric readers and encoders can communicate with the Mifare® cards that they create. Authorised managers can create new cards as well as having the ability to configure access through hot-lists communicated to the readers, preventing certain smart cards and/or fingerprints from being granted access.
Lost or stolen cards are unusable without the correct fingerprint data, therefore, access is automatically denied by the reader using biometric technology.

The PAC Biometric Smart Reader combines a Mifare® contactless smart card reader and biometric finger scanner. The unit reads stored fingerprint templates from the card together with the access control code and card number in one pass. When a finger is presented to the
reader it is compared against a template from the card, and on a match, it releases the access control data to the door controller for processing. The controller then either grants or denies access subject to the card holder's authority.
