IFSEC launch for Stanley's revolutionary new iPAC™

18th March 2008

Stanley Security Products is set to seize the initiative in access control for the residential, small commercial and light industrial markets with the launch at IFSEC of its revolutionary new iPAC unit.

The iPAC is an all-in-one access controller and proximity reader with built-in Microsoft Windows® CE which enables it to be easily installed, set-up and programmed without the need for a separate on-site computer.

Designed to work with the popular PAC OnePlatform™ access control solution and with full connectivity to the PAC 512 door controller, the iPAC can be installed without the need for additional software, whilst providing remote administration as standard.

Stand-alone or networked with a PAC access control software solution, this complete, compact unit takes up very little space and could not be simpler to install or programme. With its easy to operate navigation jog wheel and QVGA colour LCD screen, new users, keys and profiles can all be set up within minutes.

The iPAC can be programmed to retain the details, including multiple access rights and multiple time profiles of up to 1,100 keyholders and 100 operators. It has a viewable event log of up to 500 separate access control events and retains a database of up to 10,000 downloadable event records. In-built web browser interface also enables remote administration, so users dialling in remotely over the network can, for example, change keyholder profiles or monitor event records.

The new iPAC has also been designed to accommodate every type of user, being available in six languages and fully compliant with DDA.

Commenting on the iPAC launch, Product and Marketing Manager Rob Brice said: “The iPAC is a true ‘out of the box’ solution. Supporting existing Stanley technology, including PAC EasiNet Residential and EasiKey Manager software, it offers significant dealer and installer benefits.

“We believe the iPAC will help Stanley seize the initiative in the dominant mid-range access control market, typically residential accommodation, light commercial and small industrial applications with between 2 and 16 doors requiring multiple keyholder access and event monitoring.”

New iPAC™ unit from Stanley offers improved access control for housing

18th March 2008

An innovative new system from Stanley Security Products is set to benefit local authorities and the social housing sector in their provision of secure and reliable access control for multi-occupancy residential accommodation.

The new iPAC product is an all-in-one access controller and proximity reader with built-in Microsoft Windows® CE which enables it to be easily installed, set-up and programmed without the need for a separate on-site computer.

Stand-alone or networked with PAC EasiNet Residential, this complete, compact unit takes up very little space and, fitted at the point of access to, for example, a block of flats, social housing development or care home, it could not be simpler to install or programme.

With its easy to operate navigation jog wheel and QVGA colour LCD screen, a landlord or housing officer can set up new user IDs, keys and profiles within minutes and can quickly change and update new user profiles as tenants come and go.

The iPAC can be programmed to retain the details, including multiple access rights and multiple time profiles of up to 1,100 keyholders and 100 operators. It is installed without the need for an on-site PC or additional software and offers a full web interface. This means that any web-enabled operator can remotely view a log of up to 500 separate access control events or source its database of up to 10,000 downloadable event records.

The new iPAC has also been designed to accommodate every type of user, being available in six languages and fully compliant with DDA.

Fully compatible with existing PAC systems which many local authority and housing association landlords already have in place, the absence of additional computers or software makes the iPAC unit a highly competitive choice. An attractive access control solution, iPAC is ideally suited to multiple occupancy residential accommodation, typically comprising between 2 and 16 doors requiring multiple keyholder access and event log monitoring.

New corporate ID for PAC

14th January 2008

The PAC range of access control solutions, available through the Stanley Security Products sales channel, has been given a new corporate identity consistent with the Stanley group.

The traditional blue and grey identity has been replaced with a new logo design in Stanley’s traditional black and yellow colours.

Marketing manager Malcolm Rose commented: “Whilst PAC is a very well established trade brand in its own right, synonymous with a long tradition of high quality access control products, it is also an integral part of our group offer. By switching to a new yellow and black logo we are associating it more closely with the recognised Stanley brand values.”

Other than use of the new logo throughout all packaging and marketing of the PAC products, customers will be unaffected by the identity change, continuing to enjoy the same high level of product quality and service.

Broad Focus for Stanley Security Products at IFSEC

18th May 2007

Reinforcing its breadth of products and services available to the indirect sales channel, Stanley Security Solutions will be highlighting its Stanley Security Products range at IFSEC 2007.

The company has previously exhibited at the show under the PAC brand and PAC Oneplatform Technology for use in access control applications will continue to be a major element of this year’s stand, with product demonstrations and range enhancements on show.

Following the company’s acquisition last year of GDX Technologies, Stanley will also use IFSEC to exhibit the GDX range of door entry and concierge systems for the residential and commercial markets.  With a longstanding reputation amongst local authority and housing association clients, these products are compatible with Stanley’s own access control systems as well as those of many other leading manufacturers, and are part of Stanley’s fully integrated range of security, communications and time and attendance solutions.

Elsewhere on the stand Stanley will demonstrate its range of paging equipment with an emphasis on its Minder, Bodyguard and Guardian staff protection products, whilst a range of time and attendance products which can be integrated with access control systems is also being made available through dealers.

As ever, Stanley will take the opportunity at IFSEC to develop relationships with new and existing dealers and distributors, as it looks to reiterate the strength and breadth of the Stanley Security Products portfolio.

New training centre keeps Stanley customers apace with latest security technology

17th April 2007

Reinforcing its comprehensive technical support to the indirect channel, Stanley Security Solutions has invested in a new training centre at its offices in Stockport.

The company, which has over 200 dealer and distributor customers UK-wide, has always seen product training as vital in maintaining good long term relationships with the installer channel.  This latest modern facility will enable it to offer more intensive training courses across a broad range of products.

The training is available for a nominal fee to customers of all size, from one man bands to large distributors, and will focus specifically on the PAC access control systems.  Six networked PC’s plus servers, rising to eight in May, are connected to PAC hardware, enabling practical, hands-on demonstrations of the full range of access control products and features.  The facility is able to simulate most security scenarios and potential problems and keep the customer fully abreast of Stanley’s latest technological developments.

The training courses provide invaluable support whether the trainee is involved in the specification, installation or maintenance of PAC equipment and can even be augmented by separate e-learning opportunities available on the Stanley website.

In addition, training sessions are also offered on other Stanley Security Solutions products including its CCTV, communications and time and attendance systems.

Group marketing manager, Malcolm Rose commented: “The new training centre underlines our ongoing commitment to the indirect channel.  As our security products become increasingly technologically advanced it is essential we step up the comprehensive support we give our customers.  As a state-of-the-art resource the new Stockport facility keeps us at the forefront of training provision.”

Stanley focuses on social housing security issues at CIH

17th April 2007

Following the company’s acquisition last year of GDX Technologies, Stanley Security Solutions will use this year’s CIH show to exhibit the GDX range of door entry and concierge systems for the residential market.  With a longstanding reputation amongst local authority and housing association clients, these products are compatible with Stanley’s own systems and form part of a comprehensive range of social housing specific products being shown, including access control systems and Stanley’s digital TV distribution services.

The GDX door entry systems run from simple, single door entry to a fully integrated, centrally controlled security system with multiple door access.  They are available as an audio system, an audio/video system or as a more sophisticated concierge system, designed for larger residential schemes and able to integrate with other Stanley solutions including CCTV, fire detection and alarms, staff protection and on-site paging.

Just as the GDX door entry range is becoming increasingly important in helping to keep residential property secure, so too is the PAC EasiNet Residential visitor management and electronic access control solution, which will also be highlighted at CIH.

Based on Microsoft NET technology and fully integrated with door entry panels and video handsets, the product can support up to 5,000 separate residential blocks and a database of up to 20,000 key holders.

Designed around the needs of tenants and system users, the product includes a number of features intended to keep installation and administration costs to a minimum.  GSM or modem links, for example, can reduce the complexity of managing multiple systems and sites, even if they are spread over a large geographical area.

With the government’s analogue TV switch-off now gathering pace and local authorities and housing associations needing to upgrade communal aerial systems to provide digital access for their residents, Stanley will also use CIH to highlight its own digital TV distribution services.

Operating at the forefront of the market, Stanley is a Sky Approved Communal Aerial Installer and a member of the Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI) and has over 30 years experience providing communal aerial solutions into the social housing sector.  As well as providing a design, installation and maintenance service, Stanley offers landlords surveys, budgetary costs and feasibility studies to help them decide on an upgrade policy.

Recognising that in the social housing sector, capital investment is not always freely available, Stanley also augments a highly competitive purchase option with a wide choice of alternative payment options.

Malcolm Rose, Stanley Security Solutions’ group marketing manager commented: “The CIH show in Harrogate once again provides the platform to demonstrate our vast experience in the social housing sector and underline the significant economies of scale we can offer through an integrated range of security and communication products as well as our increasingly topical digital TV distribution services.”

11th October 2006

PAC, the UK’s leading manufacturer of integrated access control systems, is set to reaffirm its position at the forefront of the commercial and housing sectors with the promotion of Steve Tickle to national sales manager.

Steve (39) brings over 15 years security industry experience to the position, the last seven of which he has spent at PAC, part of Stanley Security Solutions.  Having joined the company as a regional sales manager for the south west and London, Steve took charge of PAC’s operation in South East Asia a couple of years ago.  In that time he was responsible for the specification of some of the company’s major international projects including the new Bangkok International Airport, Thai Telecom and the North Shores Condominium, a major housing development in Singapore.

Back in the UK his knowledge and experience in the commercial access control sector has also seen him involved with some major corporate clients including Norwich Union, Scottish & Southern Energy and Hyder (Welsh Water), as well as several projects throughout the City of London and the UK’s largest hospital access control implementation at the famous St James Hospital in Leeds.

Steve, who operates out of the company’s Swindon office, believes that PAC can now capitalise on this breadth of experience and the recent launch of its exciting new Oneplatform Technology™, to augment its market leading position within both the commercial and housing sectors. “PAC is a world class provider of access control systems and I am confident that with the national sales team we now have in place, together with the new product range, we have the resources and the offer to further improve our market share.”

Comments Malcolm Rose, group marketing manager at Stanley Security Solutions:

“With his considerable international and UK sales experience and a proven track record in the security industry and distribution sector, Steve is ideally placed to lead PAC’s national sales team.  Under him we will seek to consolidate our excellent portfolio of current accounts and extend our access control offer into new markets and customers UK-wide.”

PAC launches new ‘Oneplatform’ technology at IFSEC

8th May 2006

PAC,  the UK’s leading manufacturer of integrated access control systems, returns to this year’s IFSEC to launch its new ‘Oneplatform’ range of access control solutions.

Designed around the practical needs of both user and installer, the new single platform technology embraces a complete portfolio of products, including readers, controllers and software.

The availability of a single hardware platform, ensures full compatibility of products, enabling easier installation and maintenance and enhancing sales opportunities for PAC’s dealer and distributor network.  Meanwhile, for the end user, the main advantage lies in the flexibility of the new software package.

As well as being able to offer core access control functionality software as a free option, PAC can also now very easily upgrade the software with additional functionality and features.  These can either be supplied as pre-packaged bundles or as individual features which customers can use to develop their own tailor-made access control security system.

Building on the advanced performance features of established PAC products, the newly launched OneProx reader range includes Standard, Designer Standard, Classic Mullion, Designer Mullion, Designer Pin, Designer Panel Mount and Classic Vandal options.  All readers deliver outstanding quality and reliability when used with both existing KeyPAC and PAC ID devices, and are available in a stylish, easy to install package.

Fully scaleable and of consistent design, our access control solutions can cope with everything from simple one or two door standalone systems through to large multi-site applications, ensuring they remain viable even as a customer’s security requirements grow.

The full OneProx reader range will be shown on the PAC stand, together with PAC’s market leading Series 500 controllers, which comprise the 500 access and alarm server, 512 two door controller, 520 input controller, 530 output controller and its latest controller range addition, the 512 IP controller which has fully integrated IP connectivity. Full software demonstrations throughout the stand will allow visitors to see all the new features in practice. Elsewhere on the stand, PAC will demonstrate its tried and tested social housing product, EasiNet Residential software, fully integrated with a door entry panel and video handsets.

Whilst the Oneplatform strategy represents PAC’s main product focus at IFSEC, the company will also use the show to highlight its new Authorised Partner Programme for dealers.

Reinforcing the importance of its partnership approach, PAC will underline not just the business benefits of being able to access a full range of market-leading, award-winning security products, but also the high quality literature, dedicated technical support, comprehensive training programmes and ongoing marketing development that is available to all PAC’s authorised dealer partners.

As the only access control company to have achieved Secured by Design accreditation, PAC is proud to be returning to IFSEC with such a comprehensive range of high quality products on display.

PAC launches new Oneprox™ reader range

8th May 2006

Building on the advanced performance features of its established high tech access control solutions, PAC, the UK’s leading manufacturer of integrated access control systems, has launched its new Oneprox reader range.

The range includes Standard, Designer Standard, Mullion, Designer Mullion, Proximity/Key Pad, Panel Mount and Classic Vandal options.  All readers deliver outstanding quality and reliability, ensure confidence of security between fob and reader when used with both existing KeyPAC and PAC ID devices, and are available in a stylish, easy to install package.

The entire Oneprox reader range has been developed in response to the changing needs of specific installations as well as the latest regulations governing access control equipment, and this is typified by the Oneprox PAC Classic Vandal reader option.

Built specifically for high traffic areas and harsh environments, the Classic Vandal reader offers outstanding reliability in an easy to install, vandal-resistant package  that is equally at home in both contemporary and traditional settings.

Designed to be surface mounted or attached to a standard electrical back box, its rugged construction allows complete freedom of use, both indoors and out, making it ideal for vandal-prone installations, for example in schools, universities, car park reader posts and other unsupervised public places.

The Classic Vandal has also been designed to fulfil latest Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance. It has, for example, high visibility key graphics as well as two LEDs, one of which is red when the reader is active, with the other turning green with an optional audio sounder when the reader senses a valid token or card and the door controller activates the lock output.  These features make it easier to use for people with hearing or sight impairment.

The Classic Vandal and rest of the Oneprox reader range will be part of a comprehensive range of new access control products highlighted on PAC stand M82 at IFSEC.

PAC EasiNet Residential access control highlighted at IFSEC

8th May 2006

Responding to a growing need to help keep residential property secure but administration to a minimum, PAC will highlight its tried and tested EasiNet Residential visitor management and electronic access control solution at IFSEC.

Designed specifically for the residential housing application, EasiNet Residential is ideal for housing managers and staff who have the constant worry about controlling access to their buildings or specific areas.

Based on Microsoft NET™ technology, and fully integrated with door entry panels and video handsets, the product can support up to 5,000 separate residential blocks and a database of up to 20,000 key holders.

Designed around the needs of tenants and system users, the product includes a number of features intended to keep installation and administration costs to a minimum.  GSM or modem links, for example, can reduce the complexity of managing multiple systems and sites, even if they are spread over a large geographical area.

The centrally managed system increases the speed of tenant response, whilst staff and contractors requiring access to service, maintain or deliver to residential blocks can also be more effectively managed.  One of the main benefits of the software, for example, is the simplicity of adding, moving or deleting a PAC keyfob, with staff able to add or re-programme new tenants after only the minimal amount of training.

The PAC EasiNet Residential access control solution has also been designed with DDA compliance in mind. It has features which help make secure areas equally accessible to disabled people, including additional door entry time and high visibility readers placed at various wheelchair height locations.

As crime continues to blight many residential properties, and the duty of care for housing associations and local authorities to protect residents comes under ever greater scrutiny, EasiNet Residential is a welcome addition to residential housing security.

PAC SecureNet software provides scaleable solutions for today’s modern access control applications

8th May 2006

Setting a new industry standard for access control performance and reliability, the new PAC SecureNet v3.1 software package is at the heart of the company’s latest Oneplatform technology.

The software has been designed with a level of flexibility and scalability to meet the needs of most access control applications, regardless of size, and enables large scale systems to be confidently installed in the knowledge that all components will have full connectivity.

Although designed for use with the powerful new PAC 500 series of controllers, it is also backward compatible with the 2100 and 2200 controllers.  This ensures legacy systems can also work with the new range so dealers and installers do not have to replace existing systems but can develop and enhance those they already have.

An open architecture design, based on Microsoft’s .NET and CE.NET platforms, allows administrators to integrate increasingly sophisticated capabilities as needs change and grow, extending the product life cycle and providing the best return on a company’s investment.

Easily configured to operate on a standalone PC or across a corporate network, SecureNet displays detailed real time information of events, including alarms as they occur across a facility, as well as offering alarm monitoring, digital video, intrusion detection and ID production.  One single, seamless solution provides unprecedented ease of management with centralised system-wide access, administration and maintenance that results in greater time and cost efficiencies, while increasing the security of both premises and staff.

SecureNet is not only available in feature packs, but can also be tailor-made from any base package to suit individual requirements with simple licensed upgrades and add-ons.  Designed ultimately with customers in mind, it is a truly scalable administrations software solution suited to today’s modern access control and security applications.
